Dr. Eric Kucera

Dr. Eric Kucera was first introduced to chiropractic after suffering a high school sports injury. The injury was first thought to be a season ending one. After consulting with two specialists, who prescribed time as the only remedy, Dr. Kucera sought other alternatives to "get back on the playing field". "I decided to give Chiropractic a try because I wasn't ready for my season to end. I was the quarterback on the team and we were two games into district when my injury occurred. I went to see Dr. Winkles and he had me back on the field the next week. I scored three toughdowns that game and we went on to claim the district championship. I was amazed by the miracle of what Chiropractic and Dr. Winkles did for me."

After graduating from Van Vleck High School, Dr. Kucera completed his undergraduate work at Wharton County Junior College and Stephen F. Austin University before moving on to Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena. Upon graduating in 1996, Dr. Kucera went to work in College Station; but found himself back home in Bay City after a couple of years. "Family is very important to me and seemed that something was always going on where I would be back in town. So, I decided to move back home."

After a brief stint in Bay City, Dr. Kucera went to work at Wharton Chiropractic for Dr. Winkles. "We had been talking about it for a couple of years and it finally happened. It is sort of a blessing to be back where it all started."

Some of Dr. Kucera's hobbies include: fishing, hunting & coaching sports. " I spend much of my time coaching baseball, basketball and football for younger kids. I have a great group of kids and it's good to be able to give something back to the community."

Dr.Kucera also volunteers his time to be the team doctor for Van Vleck High School. "There's a very ironic story with being the team doctor. The team was in playoffs a few years ago when the quarterback suffered a severely sprained ankle. An orthopedic surgeon diagnosed the injury as a grade three sprain, which would possible require surgery. The kid's season looked to be over. After aggressive therapy for a week, he was back on the field on Friday night scoring the game-winning touchdown. Talk about irony!

Chiropractic is very rewarding, but that had to be on top of the list watching that kid cross the goal line. Who knows maybe he will be a chiropractor someday as it has been a great career choice for myself."
